Rant, Driver ridicle

I guess I have not being ridiculed by a driver before, guess there is always a first time. What happened, to cut all the damn details out: I was cycling on the pavement heading to a T-junction, at the T-junction I go out onto the road making a left and get honked at by a car. Unsatisfied, the car revved up and threatened to hit me from the rear. I decided to take the lane and immediately regretted my decision as I remembered watching the below video: So I kept left, only to be greeted by vulgarities from the passenger, it was a red light so the driver stopped at the filter lane. And continued to ridicule me. I only remembered:

"Are you trying to kill yourself?"
"Are you trying to kill me?", was the only thing i replied. Somehow I remember smiling and wondering what the hell is wrong with this world.
"You do not know the traffic rules, you are not supposed to overtake on the left." Which didn't help cause the traffic junction was crowded, and so I was wrong and life goes on.

Oh yeah, and there was a fellow cyclist in front of me watching the show. Camaraderie.

Near miss with Taxi

I got myself a camera for my bike, just so I could record drivers like this. This incident was however my first time encountering... While I guessing in the driver's view, he just wanted a quick way out (u-turn) and this was it. But he did it without due care, without signaling and he also did it illegally. This is just for awareness, so ride safe all. Will be putting a review of the camera and hopefully setting up a blogshop too.

Crime watch: Nabbing of a bicycle thief

Strange that a U-lock is not recommended, lock with alarm is recommended though. And as a very well-known fact. He goes for bikes with locks that can easily be cut. 157 thefts! Well, I guess our bicycles are in a slightly safer Singapore now. Don't be complacent, get a good lock!

Cycling Movies 2

I wrote about Cycling Movies 1 and Travel movies, just in case you are a movie junkie like me!

American Flyers
I actually found this quite funny, and was easy to relate as It was about the college/university student training and than taking part in a race. It was as much a cycling movie and a movie with cycling, so I guess non-enthusiasts might watch it with you.

Verdict: Recommended

Pee Wee's big adventure
This is some what disturbing show, it's so lame you don't know whether you should laugh or cry. I don't get the whole Pee-Wee character, but I guess it's nice to see a old school cruiser in action.

Verdict: Stay away, not for the young ones either.

Stars and Watercarriers
Featuring the great Eddy Merckx, and how the Tour de France was done properly in the past. It was really interesting to see how the the legend rides, it start to understand just why he is so great! The commentary is a little sparse at times, but never the less you see how much the Tour has evolved.

Verdict: Highly Recommended, esp Tour de France fans.

Race across the Sky
Probably the most recent movie of the list, it's about Lance Armstrong trying to set a record for the race, it's a long offroad race with elements of road too as there are many stretches of road to cover. They throw in stories of people's thoughts and what this race means to them too, so it's rather inspiring watch! There is some excitement as wonder if Lance can set the record you the multiple time winner is gonna win it again.

Verdict: Definitely must watch for XC/Enduro riders. (24hrs solo, is probably more epic though)
