Featuring a friend.

I believe the picture was taken in the land of the Dutch and the best part? My friend doesn't even know how to cycle!

I cycled home in the rain today with 2 near misses... Mainly drivers not paying attention, I reacted and avoided. Need brighter lights to feel more visible...

Retro or not?

Taken in Tokyo... There is just something retro, chic slightly hipsterish about bicycles... You see them in designer shops... Restaurants, furniture shops, fashion, hardware shops! Everywhere!

So what is it about bicycles? Their simplicity? Their long history? Or simply because the owner likes to ride bikes? Whatever it is, I'm glad they decided to use it as a decoration instead anything else!

Taken at Fukuoka, part of a window display of a shop selling apparel.

Radical Stimulus : Others commuting experience

(Picture, taken at Tokyo, Ginza edited with focal B&w, almost definitely ridden by a couple in love <3)

It often spurs me on to do my commutes when I hear how others have it much harder, how they cope, their tips and tricks, and basically everything they say since most of it can be related to my own experiences. One of the best places to hear from others are forums, such as SMBF!

But I'm going to post a link from Togoparts.com today since I seldom go there. Reading the thread was refreshing! Here

The awe for the single speed.

Just look at it, even cooler and more hip than the cruiser.

Simple, modern, low maintenance, fast.

A medium lock for a city that hardly has thefts... I grade this lockup B+, if it were in Singapore the wheels would probably be gone the next day. a C- grade in Sg. Dun lock just the frame, lock the rear wheel as well :)

Radical Stimulus to ride : Osaka Cycle Chic

Here's a picture I took while waiting for a friend to arrive based on the original cycle(More later). Unfortunately, there was only one lady that cycled pass and she wasn't facing me. So this picture will just have to do.

At 1 Degrees Celsius, it was pretty cold out there, yet this guy looked relaxed and composed. And nicely suited up if you ask me.

One of my radical stimulus to ride is to go to Cycle Chic and look at all those finely dressed Copenhageners and wonder if I can dress better while commuting. If you haven't the faintest for ideas as to what to wear when commuting slow, it is the place to go for a reference. Style over speed they say!

Classics & Hair Stylists

Firstly the bike, definitely a very classic look. Think retro! Throw in all the bright colours, mess it up a bit, Chrome paint job, add that piece of cloth strapped to the frame's top tube(What is called? Toptube protector? Lol.) area and top of handlerbar and you are all set! In the world of fixies and cruisers, this classic bmx just stands out.

Now the Hair Stylists, well Hair Saloons are practically at every turn and I'm not surprised. The average Japanese's hair is ridiculously flaw free, I swear. Every person you look at, their hair just looks great! I mean I know people talk about the girls here all putting make up and such.. But nobody though me that their hair are awesome too!

I'm guessing its no coincidence that there are so many Hair Saloons... ANYWAY, now to my point. These Hair Saloons almost always have awesome looking bikes outside their shop, probably belonging to the Hair Stylists since I see the bikes there everyday. It has to be one of the following: Something that looks like a fixie, crusiers, classic bmx(above), Foldable bike with funky colour combination.

Never the common "mamachari", or step-through ladies bike.

For the Hair Stylists are the trend-setters. Get a stylish bike now!
